The band Bubble Puppy is from San Antonio, Texas, and was formed by Roy Cox and Rod Prince in 1966. The bandmates Roy Cox who played the bass guitar, and Todd Potter, who was lead guitarist and vocalist, had previously played together in an in another rock group called The Bad Seeds. They were looking to form a rock band and off the concept that it's based off of dual lead guitars. The two bandmates recruited Todd Potter from Austin Texas, a guitarist and saxophonist. The bands name originated from the concept of “centrifugal Bumble -puppy” which is a children’s game. Brave New World is a dystopian novel by English author Aldous Huxley, written in 1931 and published in 1932.  The original bandmates consisted of Roy Cox and Todd Potter along with Rod Cox a bass guitar player/vocalist and David Fore a drummer/vocalist. The first time they were really given any attention was when they opened for the Who in San Antonio in 1967. Bubble Puppy signed a record deal in Austin Texas and moved there after that because they signed a recording contract with Houston-based international artists, they are known for the Red Krayola Bubble Puppy and the 13th Floor Elevators. They started to grow as a band and decided to move to Los Angeles in 1970 for better opportunities and management and to avoid contract conflicts that they had with their former record company and because they have their name tied and linked with bubblegum music. They ended up signing to ABC-Dunhill Records and released an album in 1971 but it did not end up succeeding and their failure to perform on the charts led to financial difficulties with the label and the groups breakup in 1972. The group members were replaced by the current members including, Mark Miller, a guitarist/vocalist, Jim Umstatted, a bassist/vocalist, Gregg Stellgall a guitarist/vocalist and Randlall Maxwell, a drummer and groove-ist. I think that the most interesting thing about this band is that they are called the bubble puppy I think that the way they picked their name was really interesting and I would have never picked out a name like that but I like how it sounds. I really enjoyed this song by them it is called Hot Smoke & Sassafras from 1968.
